Getting Started
Have Questions About Getting Started?
These questions cover everything you need to know about starting your website project. From how to get in touch, what information you’ll need to provide, and how the process works, to understanding costs and next steps, this section is designed to make getting started simple, clear, and stress-free. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, please feel free to contact me directly.
I offer full-service web solutions, including web design and development, domain name setup, hosting, ongoing maintenance, and dedicated support. Everything you need is managed in one place to ensure you get a strong online presence from a website which stays secure, up to date, and running smoothly.
I primarily work with small businesses and freelancers. My service offering is tailored to their needs, removing the requirement for large upfront costs and providing an affordable monthly payment model that aligns well with small business budgets.
Getting started is simple and hassle-free. First, you can contact me using the form on my website or via social media. We’ll then have a brief chat to go over your requirements. After that, I create a first draft of your website for you to review. If you’re happy with it, we move forward with your subscription. If not, no harm done - there’s no obligation. The process is designed to be completely risk-free and straightforward.
There is usually no need to meet in person. Most website projects can be completed entirely remotely using email or messaging, making the process quick, simple, and convenient regardless of location.
Before we begin, I’ll need some basic information about your business to ensure your website reflects your goals and offerings. This typically includes details about the services you provide, the type of content you’d like on your website, any branding elements such as logos, colours, or images you want to use, and your contact information. The more information you can provide at this stage, the easier it is to create a website that suits your business and your vision. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything ready - just provide what you can, and we’ll work together from there.
There are no upfront costs. I create the initial website build at no charge so you can see how it will look before committing. If you decide you want to go ahead and have me launch your website and secure a domain name for you, a subscription must first be purchased. Please note that the website design cannot be used without an active subscription in place. Please see my Terms & Conditions for more details.
This approach is designed to make getting started risk-free and straightforward for you.
FAQs
Website Design & Build
Have Questions About Website Design & Build?
These questions cover the process of designing and building your website, from initial planning to the first draft and final launch. They explain how your requirements are gathered, what information and materials you’ll need to provide, and how the process works to ensure a website that fits your business. The aim is to make the design and build experience simple, clear, and stress-free, so you know exactly what to expect at every stage.
I aim to deliver a first draft within seven days, although this can vary depending on the complexity of your requirements. Once the first draft is complete, you can review it and provide feedback, and I will make any necessary adjustments to ensure the final website meets your needs. The process is structured to be clear and straightforward, allowing you to see progress quickly while giving you the opportunity to shape the website to your vision.
Yes, I can absolutely work with your existing brand or logo. You are welcome to send me any logos, colours, or fonts you would like to use, and I will incorporate them throughout your website to create a consistent, on-brand look. If you don't have any branding in place, that's not a problem. I can create a style from scratch that suits your business and ensures your website looks professional and cohesive.
I'm afraid I do not work on existing websites. My service model is designed to provide a full, end-to-end website build that I can manage from start to finish. This ensures consistent quality, efficiency, and a website that fully meets your needs. Working on websites built by others can bring many time-consuming unknowns, and it is difficult to guarantee the same level of performance, design consistency, or functionality. By starting fresh, I can deliver a website that is optimised, secure, and tailored specifically to your business, while keeping the process simple, affordable, and hassle-free.
Your website is professionally built for you, so you avoid the limitations, frustrations, and time wasting of DIY platforms. The result is a polished, design-focused site that makes an excellent first impression. You also deal directly with me, a friendly expert who actually built your website and understands your business, rather than chatbots or clueless and impersonal support lines. This is a fully managed service, where I handle all the technical and design work, making the process simple, efficient, and hassle-free, leaving you to focus on what you do best.
Yes, all websites are built using an easy-to-use content management system that allows you to log in and make updates yourself without any technical or coding skills. You can easily add or edit text, images, and other content whenever you need. If you prefer, it is just as simple to contact me and have minor content adjustments made for you, so you always have the option of support when needed.
Yes, on the lower-cost packages I may use design templates as a starting point. This allows me to keep costs affordable, making professional websites accessible for small businesses and freelancers who often have no need for a fully bespoke design. Even when a template is used, it serves only as a foundation. I customise it extensively with your branding, colours, fonts, and content, resulting in a website that is highly personalised and closely aligned with your business.
Your website will be built on WordPress, the most widely used website platform in the world. WordPress powers around 43 per cent of all websites on the internet and holds the largest share among content management systems, significantly more than other options.
There are several reasons I choose WordPress. It is extremely flexible and scalable, so your website can grow with your business and adapt as your needs change. It offers a vast ecosystem of plugins and tools that add useful features without compromising performance. It is also user-friendly, making it easy for you to update content yourself without technical or coding skills. WordPress’ popularity means it is well supported, regularly updated for security and performance, and widely understood by designers and developers, giving you long-term reliability and control.
No, all websites are hand-built with care and diligence by me, drawing on over 20 years of experience in web design and development. Your website is tailored to your business and requirements. In some cases, I may use AI to help generate or refine website text, or to make visual adjustments to images. This allows me to work more efficiently and ensures your website content is clear, professional, and polished, without compromising the personal touch and expertise that goes into every website.
FAQs
Content & Assets
This section explains how content and assets are handled for your website. It covers questions about text, images, branding, and other materials needed to bring your site together, as well as how support is provided if you do not have everything ready. The aim is to make the process flexible and straightforward, while ensuring your website looks professional and cohesive.
You are welcome to supply your own website content if you already have it. If not, I can also help create or refine website copy based on information you provide about your business, services, and goals. You always have the opportunity to review and approve any copy before it goes live, so the final content accurately reflects your business and tone of voice.
Yes, I can rewrite or improve existing website content to make it clearer, more engaging, and better suited for the web. This can include refining wording, improving structure, and ensuring the tone aligns with your business and audience. Any revised content is always shared with you for review and approval, so you remain fully in control of how your business is presented.
Yes, I can help with images and visuals for your website. I hold commercial licences for professional stock image and video libraries, which allows me to source high-quality visuals suitable for use on your site. This is often a cost-effective way to achieve a polished, professional look. I do not offer photographic shoots, but I am happy to advise on imagery and help you choose visuals that align with your brand and content.
Yes, in many cases I can use images from your social media profiles, provided you own the rights to those images and they are suitable for use on your website. If social media images are not ideal for certain sections of the site, I can also supplement them with licensed stock imagery to maintain a consistent and polished appearance.
That is absolutely fine. If you do not have a logo or branding in place yet, I can create a simple, basic logo to use as a placeholder so your website can move forward. Please note that I am not a professional logo designer and cannot offer multiple design revisions. For a fully developed bespoke logo, I would recommend working with a professional logo designer. Professional logos can always be added later without any issues.
FAQs
Hosting, Maintenance & Support
Have Questions Hosting, Maintenance & Support?
This section explains how hosting, maintenance, and technical support are handled as part of your subscription. It covers how your website is kept secure, updated, and backed up, as well as how any issues are resolved quickly. The aim is to make managing your website completely hassle-free, giving you peace of mind and the freedom to focus on running your business while everything technical is taken care of.
Yes, website hosting is a key part of the service I offer. All websites are on fast, secure, and reliable hosting that is optimised specifically for WordPress. I am your single point of contact for any technical support, so you won't need to deal with external hosting providers or separate support teams. This keeps everything simple, streamlined, and easy to manage.
Yes, technical support is fully included and is a core part of the service. You deal directly with me, the person who built and maintains your website, not a call center, ticket system, or chatbot. Because I know your website inside and out, issues can be resolved quickly and efficiently without the frustration of explaining your situation repeatedly. Whether you need help with updates, technical questions, or something is not working as expected, support is personal, responsive, and hassle-free, giving you complete peace of mind.
Yes, ongoing maintenance is a key part of the subscription package and an important value add. I automatically take care of all essential website maintenance, so you do not have to worry about the technical side and can focus on running your business. This includes software and security updates, performance and SEO optimisations, and general upkeep to ensure your website remains secure, fast, and running smoothly at all times.
If something breaks or stops working on your website, I am on hand to quickly investigate and resolve any technical issues. As part of the ongoing maintenance and support included in your subscription, I monitor and maintain the website to ensure problems are addressed promptly, minimising disruption and keeping your site running smoothly.
Your website is backed up daily as part of the hosting and maintenance service, ensuring that all content, images, and settings are protected. In the unlikely event of an issue, the backups allow your site to be quickly restored to a fully functioning state. Combined with regular security updates and performance optimisations, this gives you complete peace of mind that your website is safe, secure, and reliable at all times.
As part of the subscription service, hosting is included and managed by me, and it is not possible to switch to your own hosting and still benefit from all of the advantages of your subscription. This ensures that updates, maintenance, and support can be carried out reliably and efficiently. Using external hosting often introduces unforeseen differences in configuration and required features, which can complicate or prevent timely updates and technical support. By keeping hosting managed within the subscription, you benefit from a practical, cost-effective, and hassle-free solution where everything is handled for you, giving you complete peace of mind.
FAQs
SEO & Performance
Have Questions About SEO & Performance?
This section covers how your website is optimised for search engines and performance. It explains the on-page SEO measures included in the build, such as page titles, headings, meta descriptions, and internal linking, as well as the steps taken to ensure fast loading, mobile responsiveness, and smooth performance. The goal is to give your website a strong foundation to attract visitors, perform well in search results, and provide an excellent user experience.
Yes, your website will include on-page search engine optimisation (SEO) as part of the build. This includes optimising page titles and headings, meta descriptions, image alt text, URL structure, internal linking, and page load speed. These optimisations help search engines understand your website and improve its visibility, giving your business the best possible chance to appear in relevant search results.
No, I do not offer full SEO services. As part of the website build, I take care of on-page SEO optimisations, such as page titles, headings, meta descriptions, image alt text, URL structure, and internal linking. These measures provide a strong foundation to help your website perform well in search engines. Other SEO tasks which fall under 'off-page optimisation', such as link building, content marketing, social media content, gathering reviews, or ongoing SEO strategy, are generally the responsibility of the business owner or a professional SEO agency. By focusing on a solid on-page setup, your website is ready to benefit from any additional SEO efforts you or a specialist choose to implement.
While there is certainly nothing stopping your website from ranking well in search engines, it is important to set realistic expectations, especially in the early days. Your site will be built with strong on-page SEO optimisations in place, including optimised page titles, headings, meta descriptions, image alt text, URL structure, and internal linking, which give it a strong foundation for search engines to understand your content. However, new websites take time to be crawled and indexed by Google, and ranking highly often requires ongoing off-page SEO efforts. These include activities such as building high-quality backlinks, publishing content externally, effectively managing your social media, and encouraging reviews.
By combining a well-optimised website with consistent off-page SEO, your site will have an excellent chance to grow a strong search engine visibility.
Your website will be built to load quickly and efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience for your visitors. Fast loading speeds help keep users engaged, reduce bounce rates, and improve search engine rankings. While exact load times can vary depending on content and traffic, all websites are optimised with performance best practices, including compressed images, clean code, caching, and fast hosting, to make sure your site loads quickly enough to provide a professional and user-friendly experience on any device.
Yes, your website will be secure. Every site includes an SSL certificate, which means all data transferred between your visitors and your website is encrypted and protected. In addition, WordPress itself has built-in security features that are regularly updated to protect against vulnerabilities. Combined with ongoing maintenance, security updates, and daily backups, your website is designed to remain safe, reliable, and trustworthy for both you and your visitors.
Yes, every website is fully responsive and designed to look and perform well on all screen sizes, including smartphones and tablets. Mobile-friendly design is essential not only for user experience but also for search engine performance, ensuring visitors can navigate your site easily on any device.
FAQs
Pricing & Payments
Have Questions About Pricing & Payments?
This section explains how website costs, subscriptions, and payments work. It covers questions about upfront fees, ongoing subscription plans, accepted payment methods, and what is included in the monthly cost. The goal is to make pricing simple, transparent, and affordable, so you can focus on your business while your website is fully managed, maintained, and supported.
Traditional web design agencies often charge anywhere from £1,000 to £5,000 or more upfront for a website. My approach is different. I offer a no-upfront-cost model, where I build your website for you to review and approve before you commit. Once you are happy with the first draft, you can move forward with an all-in-one subscription plan starting from as little as £25 per month. This includes your website build, domain name, hosting, maintenance, support, ongoing updates, and much more, making it a no-risk, cost-effective, and hassle-free way to get a professional website tailored to your business.
No, I do not offer fixed pricing or custom quotes. Rather than requesting upfront payment before anything is delivered, or raising hefty invoices, I provide an all-in-one affordable subscription model that covers everything you need to stand out online. This approach keeps costs transparent, predictable, and affordable, while allowing every website to be built to the highest standard without unnecessary compromises.
No deposit is required. The website build is included as part of the subscription process, allowing you to review and approve the first draft before committing. This means there is no upfront financial risk, and you only begin paying once you are happy with the website and ready to launch.
All payments are handled securely through the subscription system. You can pay using any major credit or debit card, and your details are processed safely using industry-standard encryption. This ensures a smooth, reliable, and secure payment experience every time. Remember, you're not locked in to any minimum terms, and you can cancel any time you wish.
No, there are no hidden or extra costs beyond the price of your subscription plan. Everything listed in the pricing section is covered by the subscription plan. This includes website hosting, maintenance, updates, security, technical support and more, ensuring your website continues to run smoothly and stays secure.
If you require any substantial additions to the website, or specialist functionality not normally included in your plan, it may be recommended that you upgrade your plan, or sign off on a one-time development quote. This will always be discussed with you, and will need approval from you beforehand.
FAQs
Timelines, Feedback & Revisions
Have Questions About Timelines, Feedback & Revisions?
This section explains how the website design process is managed from start to finish. It covers timelines for the first draft, the revision process, and how feedback is handled. The aim is to make the process collaborative, straightforward, and flexible, giving you confidence that your website will develop exactly as you envisioned while keeping everything efficient and hassle-free.
I aim to deliver the first draft of your website within seven days of gathering all the necessary information. The exact timing can vary depending on the complexity of your requirements. Once the draft is ready, you can review it and provide feedback, ensuring the website develops exactly as you envisioned.
The process is designed to ensure your website meets your needs and vision. You can provide feedback on the first draft, and I will make the necessary revisions to refine the design, content, and layout. While there is not a fixed limit, revisions are intended to finalise the website efficiently and effectively, keeping the process straightforward and focused.
If a project is delayed, how it is handled depends on the cause. If the delay is due to my availability or actions, the duration of the delay will be discounted from your next subscription payment. If the delay is due to circumstances on your side, such as late provision of content or feedback, the subscription will continue to be charged as normal. This approach ensures fairness while keeping the process clear and professional for both parties.
Your required involvement is flexible and designed to suit your availability. At a minimum, you will need to provide basic information about your business, and review the first draft of your website. Beyond that, you can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like. The process is structured to be straightforward and hassle-free, while still allowing you to provide input and feedback to ensure the final website meets your vision.
If you change your mind during the project, you are welcome to provide updated feedback or new requirements. Minor changes can usually be accommodated within the normal revision process. For significant changes that affect the scope of the project, we will discuss the best way to implement them while keeping the process on track. The goal is to ensure your website meets your needs while maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow.
If you decide not to continue after reviewing the first draft of your website, there is no obligation to proceed. You will not be charged, and the project can be paused or cancelled without any risk. The process is designed to be completely risk-free, allowing you to see the work before committing to a subscription.
FAQs
Ownership, Domains & Cancellations
Have Questions About Domains, Ownership & Cancellations?
This section covers important details about website ownership, domain names, and what happens if you decide to cancel your subscription. It explains how rights to the website are handled, how domains are managed, and how the process works if you choose to stop the service. The aim is to provide clarity and reassurance so you know exactly what to expect.
The ownership of the website is structured to balance professional design rights with your ongoing use. I retain ownership of the website design itself, and your monthly subscription grants you a licence to use the website design for the duration of your subscription. This licence allows you to operate and benefit from the website fully while your subscription is active.
Any content you provide, such as text, images, or graphics, remains your property. Any images, graphics, or design elements supplied by me remain my property but are licensed to you as part of the subscription, allowing full use on your website. All website copy is your property and can be used freely.
This approach ensures that you have full rights to operate and benefit from your website while maintaining the integrity and professional quality of the design. It also provides clarity regarding what belongs to you, and what is licensed for use as part of your subscription. Please see my Terms & Conditions for more details.
Domain names are usually registered to me, however this is done so that I can quickly and easily manage setup, configuration and renewals, not to use your domain for any form of leverage against you. If you would prefer to register the domain in your name, that is no problem, please contact me beforehand for guidance.
The domain can be released to you at any time, and remains under your control as part of your website subscription. You have full rights to use the domain for the duration of your subscription. If the domain is registered through the subscription service, it is licensed for your use as long as the subscription is active.
This approach ensures you have full operational control over your domain while keeping the registration and management simple and secure, without any interruptions to your website or services.
Yes, your domain will be released to you if you decide to end your subscription. I understand that a website domain name is a vital part of your business, and under no circumstances would I withhold it. You remain fully in control of your domain, and I will provide all necessary support to transfer it to a new provider if you so wish. Please note that any registration or transfer fees charged by your new domain provider are your responsibility. If you decide not to transfer your domain elsewhere after cancelling your subscription, the renewal will lapse and your domain will become available for anyone to purchase. I do not charge any additional fees to release the domain to you.
For the purposes of this service, I am unable to connect websites to domains purchased externally. This is because domain registrars each have different transfer protocols, fees can vary and are often unpredictable, and domain propagation can take several days, which may delay the website going live. Connecting an external domain can also disrupt existing email inboxes or other services tied to that domain, creating technical challenges that are difficult to manage reliably, particularly at the low price point of my subscription plans.
To make the process simple and hassle-free, I recommend registering a new domain directly through me as part of the subscription. This ensures full compatibility with the website, hosting, support services, and it can be used instantly. If your preferred domain is already taken, I can help you find a close variation that works just as well for your business.
If you decide to cancel your subscription, your license to use the website design ends, and the website will no longer be accessible. Any content you provided, such as text, images, and graphics, remains your property. Any images or design elements supplied by me remain my property and are no longer licensed for use. You are free to transfer your domain to a new provider if desired, and I will provide support to ensure a smooth transition.
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Simply log in to your account and follow the cancellation process, which is immediate and straightforward. There are no barriers or complications, ensuring you have full control over your subscription at all times.
No, a copy of the website files is not provided upon cancellation. I do not retain any files or assets from your website once the subscription ends. Please ensure you keep a copy of any content you have supplied and wish to retain, such as text, images, or graphics, before cancelling your subscription. This ensures you maintain full access to your own materials.
No, the website cannot be moved to another provider. The design, images, graphics, and other assets supplied by me are licensed to you for the duration of your subscription only. Once the subscription ends, this licence also ends, and you are no longer permitted to use these elements. The subscription model ensures that your website remains fully functional, secure, and supported, providing a complete, hassle-free solution for the duration of your plan.
